The researchers measured and compared the adsorption for all five of the natural materials, using three different sorption isotherms. While most of the inhibitors bonded to the mild steel over 90%, tobacco maxed out at 70% adsorption. Since it was the least useful in preventing corrosion, the researchers left tobacco out of further tests.
